Walvis CEO Joop Drechsel to step down

Today, it was announced that Joop Drechsel (64) will retire and on June 1, 2019 he will step down from his role as CEO of Walvis Group.

For over 17 years, Joop Drechsel has been chief executive officer within the group of companies owned by the J.A. Fentener van Vlissingen family. In 2002, Drechsel succeeded John Fentener van Vlissingen as CEO of BCD Group. Additionally, from 2009 to 2017 he was CEO of BCD Travel. In 2017 Drechsel was appointed CEO of Walvis Group after stepping down as BCD Group’s CEO. He had already served as chairman for the Investment Committee of Walvis funds I, II and III, since Walvis was founded in 2012.
